Building a new fence
Once you and Fence Repair Of Denver have come to an agreement for your fence project, we’ll find a suitable install date. When we arrive on installation day, the first step before installing your new fence, is typically to demo your existing fence. We try our best to be tidy and to disturb as little vegetation as possible during this process. We will place the discarded fence material in a neat stack away from the work area. For smaller projects, we will personally handle hauling away the fence material. For larger projects, we call in a waste disposal service to pickup the fence material usually within 1-2 days of demo. This pricing is built into the project proposal and is not an added cost.

Setting fence posts
Once we have your fence lines cleared, we’ll mark out the footprint of the new fence and begin setting our fence posts. Properly setting fence posts is arguably the most important step in building a quality fence. The new fence posts are essentially like the foundation of a house – screw up this step, and the entire structure is compromised. For a standard 6′ tall fence, we set our new fence posts at 24″+ deep, which follows the recommended 1/3 depth to post height ratio. We also set our new fence posts in concrete. We use a dry set concrete pouring method, which means initially pouring dry concrete around the post, and then adding water once the posts have been properly plumbed and leveled. The concrete mix we use is designed for this exact method of pouring.

Rails & pickets
Once the fence posts have been properly set, we have a secure foundation to build off. For a typical vertical picket fence, we install our horizontal rails before attaching our pickets. The 2×4 rails will be screwed to the posts which provides a more secure long term connection between our post and rail. This helps most with high winds that put force on the fence sections. We then nail our pickets to the fence rails using ‘ring shank’ nails. The ring shank nail helps prevent the fence pickets from pulling away over time. A horizontal fence is built a little differently with no use of 2×4 rails, and instead having the pickets span the posts horizontally. We use a vertical ‘runner’ board in the middle of each section to add strength to the section, and to keep our pickets from warping.

Project completion
Once we’re finished picketing the new fence, we’ll install gate hardware and any necessary finishing touches like top caps and trim boards. After the fence is complete, we’ll begin our cleanup. We load up all of our tools and project waste while doing our best to not disturb your landscaping. We’ll inform you that we’ve completed your project and will encourage you to assess and approve the fence before we leave. Once you’ve had a chance to inspect the work, we ask for final payment. We aim to exceed our customers expectations on each project. We can assure you that you’ll be glad you chose to work with Fence Repair Of Denver!

For ‘Project Description’ please include details (footage/measurements, old fence tear out, quantities of damaged posts/pickets/rails etc.). When possible, please attach photos of your existing fence (from both sides, and from a bit of distance so we can better understand the surrounding area). We can typically provide a more timely quote or ballpark estimate with this information. For larger and more complex projects, we’ll assess in person before providing a final quote. If the form is not working properly, you can reach us at hello@fencerepairofdenver.com.
