Why we use cedar lumber
Fence Repair Of Denver exclusively uses untreated cedar lumber when building fences in the greater Denver area. It’s an extremely durable wood that is naturally resistant to the negative effects of moisture damage. Its natural oils also help resist insect damage and decay. In our climate, cedar has a longer lifespan than nearly all other lumber types. It requires less maintenance, and does not easily warp or split. It’s generally a more attractive option than other lumbers as well. It has a nice grain pattern and a beautiful range of hues from reddish brown to deep amber. Cedar can easily be stained to match your desired aesthetic. A properly built cedar fence will typically last 20+ years before needing notable maintenance.

No to pressure treated
Many customers ask why don’t you use pressure treated lumber? Pressure treated lumber is best suited in higher moisture climates. Given Denver’s ‘high desert’ dry climate, pressure treated lumber will warp, crack, split and twist within only a year or two of installation. Many companies advertising their “low prices” will use pressure treated lumber as it’s much cheaper than untreated cedar. They do this while also assuring customers that pressure treated lumber will last much longer than untreated lumber. Be aware that pressure treated lumber will actually give your new fence the shortest lifespan of any fence lumber option. When gathering quotes for your new fence, always verify that the company is proposing untreated cedar lumber.

Fence Repair Of Denver will always do our best to choose the most attractive lumber for your project. We’re conscious to set aside materials with major defects and orient smaller defects in a way that makes them less visible. That being said, fence lumber is never perfect. It is a different grade of lumber than whats typically used inside of a home or in a piece of furniture. This is for obvious reasons: a fence is outside amongst the elements, mostly seen from a distance, and uses a very large quantity of material. Fences would be unaffordable to most if clear grade lumber was used. We use the highest quality fence lumber we can source at a moderate price point. Keep in mind we’re happy to provide more premium grade lumber options if a customer prefers. Browse some of our websites fence photos to get a better idea of our commitment to using quality materials and building practices.

For ‘Project Description’ please include details (footage/measurements, old fence tear out, quantities of damaged posts/pickets/rails etc.). When possible, please attach photos of your existing fence (from both sides, and from a bit of distance so we can better understand the surrounding area). We can typically provide a more timely quote or ballpark estimate with this information. For larger and more complex projects, we’ll assess in person before providing a final quote. If the form is not working properly, you can reach us at hello@fencerepairofdenver.com.
